| I've been a homeschool mom for about 17 years or so -- does NOT make me a pro -- I think it works in reverse. I have my two youngest children still at home, ages 9 and 13. We have been with a charter school for the past two years. We started with them again this year, but just made the decision to withdraw. It was getting a little too burdensome and intrusive -- much ado about state standards and mandated testing. It's nice to be independent again. I love to read, have some artistic inclinations, and always thought I'd publish a book someday. I'm kind of thinking that might not happen...I like creating school-related things on the computer, though -- records, forms, calendars, worksheets, unit studies, etc. I also love to sew and am in the process of starting a business making modest swimwear.
My four oldest children and one daughter-in-law are wonderful and successfully pursuing things they love. My grandson is wonderful-plus. I just wish they would all move across the street from me.
