Homeschooling Mom; we have been homeschooling for approximately 2 12 years, I teach my one child who is 9 years old. We are eclectic learners! I decided to homeschool for a few reasons - first and foremost, I did not like the education my child was receiving in the public school system. In addition, while homeschooling we were able to determine that our child has some special learning needs, which we are able to better address at home. Finally, I have been chronically ill for some time, and homeschooling provides our family with a very special time together, and avoids some colds, etc., usually passed on in the public school system. I have found that most homeschoolers will keep their children home when they are sick, so we have been able to avoid many a flu these past few years, while still enjoying time with our homeschooling friends.
